Darwin AirportŠ Australia

Australia is the sixth largest country in the world Its about the same size as the 48 mainland states of the USA and 50 per cent larger than Europe, but has the lowest population density in the world - only two people per square kilometre, Australia lies between the Pacific and Indian oceans. Its capital Canberra is in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) between New South Wales and Victoria. Australia is made up of six states and two territories. Each state and territory has its own parliament, flag and floral emblem. Australia became a federated nation after the union of the six colonies on 1 January 1901. Bound by one parliament, one constitution and one flag.

Northern Territory is almost an entire tropical region the territory has perfectly straight borders with three Australian states with the Timor Sea bordering the intricate coastline to its north. The Northern Territory is often perceived as being entirely arid and desert like which although true for much of the interior, contrasts with the fertile wetlands at the' Top End' which includes Darwin, Jabiru and Katherine. The south is often referred to as the 'Red Centre', because of its red 'martian like' appearance typified by the Alice Springs and Ayres Rock (Uluru) region. Although the Northern Territory is a beautiful majestic place, it can also be harsh and unforgiving since water and fuel may not be readily available and shade may be difficult find.

Darwin International Airport is located approximately 13 kilometres (8 miles) from the Darwin central business district and is the main international and domestic gateway to the Northern Territory. As the Northern Territory's sole international airport it brings visitors into Australia via the "Top End". Th Airport operates curfew free and is a joint user airport where the civilian airport shares runway areas and associated infrastructure with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).
This is the only international airport in Australia's Northern Territory (NT) and Darwin Airport (DRW) provides a number of international and domestic flights, with DRW Airport's airfield also being shared with the Royal Australian Air force (RAAF).Darwin Airport offers efficient service and the facilities Airport amenities provided are bureaux de change foreign exchange, cafes and eateries, gift shops.
