LOCAL SEVILLE HOLIDAY GUIDE
Seville - Costa De la Luz -Spain
Widely known for Flamenco music, dance, bull-fights, fantastic beaches and lots of sunshine, Spain has to offer much more than that. It is - and has been for thousands of years - one of the cultural centres of Europe. It has beautiful cities and towns, offering really old monuments as well as futuristic architecture. Its various regions are all different one to each other, geographically, climatically and even in personality.
The Costa de la Luz (Coast of light) is the western part of the AndalucĂa coastline that faces out to the Atlantic. The sand is finer and a more golden colour than the neighbouring Costa del Sol. The typical beaches here are more expansive and probably backed by sand dunes and pine trees. This part of the coast has not seen the high-rise hotel development of other areas.
Seville is located in the Southeast of Spain. The city of Seville is located on the plain of the Guadalquivir river which crosses the city from North to South. The river can be navigated from Seville all the way to its outlet near SanlĂșcar de Barrameda, on the Atlantic coast. Seville is full of twisting, narrow streets overhung by balconies, grand churches, beautiful gardens, squares and parks. Already a major trading centre when the Romans conquered the Iberian Peninsula, it became the most important city in Spain during the Spanish colonial period. Whilst in Seville visit the old city, with the Cathedral and the Giralda tower at its heart and Don's miss out on the tapas.
The city is credited with their invention and has more than a thousand bars where the choice of food, is virtually unlimited.
All flights to Seville land at Aeropuerto San Pablo approximately 12 kilometres from the city. |
